Imagine a Better World…
Our Projects
New South Wales - Eden 1
On 18 May 2021, NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) approved Auskelp’s 200-hectare ocean lease in Disaster Bay, NSW [designated AL21/004 - Eden 1] conditional on obtaining State Significant Development consent from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. This regulatory process has now commenced and includes an Environmental Impact Survey (EIS) and community consultation process.
In addition, Auskelp has commenced parralell planning of a purpose-built hatchery and dedicated kelp processing facilities located in Edrom NSW, on Twofold Bay. When completed, these world-class facilities will provide avenues for other kelp farmers to commence operations in NSW.
The Eden 1 Project will deliver commercial food products, feed for livestock, fertiliser and the potential development of kelp based bio-fuels. End user products include high value protein foodstuffs for human consumption and methane-reducing feed for cattle, which may have globally significant benefits. The Eden 1 Project will create 40 direct jobs within 2 years of regulatory approval.
Other Locations
Auskelp are currently researching additional locations in Australia and New Zealand for the licensing of commercial brown kelp farms. More information will be provided when detailed discovery information has been provided for approval to the relevant authorities.
